ARDSLEY, N.Y. – Frederick W. "Fritz" Calaicone, of Ardsley, died on Sunday, July 19. He was 81.
Calaicone was born and raised in the Bronx to Frederico and Edna Calaicone.
After playing in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs organizations, he was an New York City firefighter for 20 years and became the commissioner for the Greenburgh Fire Department.
Calaicone also coached baseball and football at Cardinal Spellman High School and baseball at Pace University.
He is survived by his wife, Francine, son Frederick and his wife Julie, two daughters, Christine Chenard and her husband, Brad, and Linda Troncone and her husband, Dominic, four grandchildren, and sister Olive Quaranta.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley.
